Jesus in India (NR)

synopsis

Where was Jesus during the so-called "Hidden Years" from ages 12 to 30? "The New Testament" is virtually silent on this. However, in India there is an ancient tradition that young Jesus joined a caravan and took the Silk Road to the East, where He lived in India with both Hindus and Buddhists before returning to the Holy Land to begin his ministry. "Jesus in India" charts the journey of Edward T. Martin, a Texan and former Fundamentalist ousted from his church for asking too many questions about this. Martin even stumbles upon an ancient grave in Murree, Pakistan, said to be the grave of Mother Mary, and an ancient grave of a prophet in war-torn Srinagar, Kashmir, said by some in the Far East to be the final resting place of the historical person, Jesus of Nazareth. How could this be possible? Some claim Jesus survived the crucifixion, reunited with his Apostles, sent Thomas to India and then returned to India Himself to escape the Roman Empire. This film is the story of the quest for evidence of these alternative Biblical theories across 4,000 miles of India, from ancient Hindu temples to Himalayan Buddhist monasteries, then to the Vatican and universities including Princeton and Georgetown.
