synopsis

This documentary presents a look into the life and work of Santos de la Torre, a great Huichol artist who, like his people, lives in oblivion. The audience will know the misfortune of an artist who, despite having made a great mural for the metro station Palais Royal at the Louvre, lives isolated and ignored in his country.
We will follow Santos during his pilgrimage to Wirikuta, where he will ask the gods for permission to create a new mural. We will take the audience on a journey across 385 miles of the "Peyote Route," which is in danger of disappearing unless it receives the protection of UNESCO. We will also follow Santos' creative process during the making of a new mural that will illustrate the history, mythology and religious practices of the Huichol people.
The oblivion in which Santos lives reflects the abandonment of the Wixárika (Huichol) people, whose sacred route is threatened by economic development.
