Babe's and Ricky's Inn (Centerpiece) (NR)

synopsis

For more than half a century, the center of the blues in Los Angeles was Babe's and Ricky's Inn, a small South Central club whose stage was graced by stars and hopefuls alike. Before the storied venue closed its doors in 2010, filmmaker Ramin Niami brought his cameras in to capture stunning performances and interviews from the likes of Guitar Shorty, Barbara Morrison, Keb' Mo' and songwriting great Mike Stoller. This lively documentary pays loving tribute to the Inn's late founder, Mississippi-born "Mama Laura" Mae Gross, a tireless champion of the blues and mentor to countless musicians.
