Elephant Sighs (NR)

synopsis

Not long after moving to a small Pennsylvanian town, uptight lawyer Joel Bixby is invited by an affable stranger, Leo Applegate, to join a group of guys who hang out at the local community center. Joel reluctantly finds himself mesmerized by Leo's ebullient manner and agrees to drop by -- without ever asking what it is the group actually does. Figuring he'll at least make some business contacts, an anxious Joel shows up on a Saturday morning. He soon finds himself swept up in the strange lives of Leo's pals. The guys -- and, finally, Joel -- grapple with their own disappointments and, in the process, reveal the compelling reason for their gathering.
