synopsis

"Riverboat Dreams" looks at America's ever increasing addiction to gambling through the stories of those who have placed their hopes and dreams on the if-come wager of riverboat casinos in Illinois and Missouri. The film documents the efforts of a once-thriving little town in Missouri's Bible Belt to revive itself by building a riverboat casino on its shores. The film also examines the devastation of gambling addiction through the first-person accounts of individuals that no one could ever have imagined would find themselves penniless and in prison as a result of succumbing to their addiction.
