Love You Long Time

synopsis

After years and years of romantic comedies and love stories, we may have truly fucked up what it means to be in Love. It has almost become something automatic, a routine… or at least something already plotted out with predictable plot points. And this is what his long-time girlfriend tells Eulogio Leonida, that after six years of being together, their relationship has gone stale and out rightly rejects his proposal of marriage. It has also affected her work as a romance screenwriter, and when they broke up, Eulogio had no say as Ikay decided to pack her bags and go to the province. On the way to Baguio, Ikay mysteriously meets a new guy Uli through an old push-to-talk phone. They immediately connect and become friends. The two explore this friendship turning into love, but of course not without complication as Uli seems to be from the past. As Uli and Ikay try to figure out how to go about this hurdle and finally meet in person though despite their varying timelines, it is revealed that what seems to be a brand new love is something they have experienced before but have forgotten. What really happened was that on her way to Baguio, Ikay met an almost fatal accident and that everything we have witnessed is from Ikay's unfinished script that Eulogio has been reading to Ikay as she lies in coma. This is based on their own love story and what she hoped it could have been. Love You Long Time tells that real love is not about having moments, but actually takes time.
