Postmaster (NR)

synopsis

Nanda Sen becomes village postmaster, against the wish of his father. His village life was comforted by the company of an orphaned low-caste housemaid, Ratna and a school teacher Rabibabu. Ratna's charm appeals to him and Nanda falls in love with her, against social stigma and his family's will, but decides to get married. However, he later succumbs to his father's last wish to marry a match fixed by him, and lands in a crisis which leaves him no choice but to leave his dream life. Nanda is unable to overcome this sin in his lifetime, and finds solace in the next one.
