Maire's Journey (NR)

synopsis

This live musical story performance for all ages will precede a screening of the documentary "Maire's Journey," about 24-year old Michigan resident and former U.S. Army PFC Maire Kent who lost her battle to cardiac sarcoma, a rare cancer of the heart. Her dying wish, which stemmed from the childrens' book that she learned to read from as a child, "Paddle to the Sea", was that her ashes would go into a wooden sailboat handcrafted by blind carpenter George Wurtzel.

Bring the whole family to experience Holling C. Holling's Caldecott-honored book as you never have before.
