synopsis
A portrayal of the early years of Dr. Sigmund Freud which observes the struggling young medical student as he wrestles with his tremendous ambition, his peniless family, his flirtatious fiance, and the world of pre-war Vienna, steeped in anti-Semitism. An unseen interviewer poses questions to Freud regarding the effects of his childhood upon his theories of repression, sublimation, hysteria, the role of the unconscious, and the significance of dreams.
