Curious to know how Americans feel about the challenges they and this country face in the wake of the economic downturn, an unlikely duo, British actor Paul Blackthorne and Australian photographer Mister Basquali, hit the road to find out. With no planned route, the first-time filmmakers meander their way through the American heartland. From New York to California, they talk with people about their lives, what is important to them, and the continuing viability of the American Dream. Three thousand miles and a car full of life lessons later, they discover that so called 'ordinary' Americans are anything but.
