synopsis

In an effort to create awareness of and debate over cultural traditions that accept the use of emotional and physical violence against women in Western immigrant communities, four activists recount their personal experiences and describe the threats they continue to receive as they publicly challenge these traditions from the inside. From diverse cultures and faiths, these individuals all make it clear that justification for these crimes is directly linked to the family power structure in patriarchal cultures.
