synopsis

Each year, the Jeonju International Film Festival commissions three filmmakers to create low budget digital shorts to premiere for its annual highlight - the Jeonju Digital Project. With An Heir, Jean-Marie Straub interprets texts by Alsatian writer Maurice Barrès to investigate his conflicted relationship with the region, the place of his birth. Claire Denis' To the Devil is an anthropological sketch of the borderland of French Guyana and Surinam, where the descendants of escaped African slaves have formed their own community in the wilderness. José Luis Guerín's Memories of a Morning is a poignant profile of a man who jumped to his death, as told through the community's reaction in the aftermath of the event.
