The Blue Mansion (NR)

synopsis

Billionaire businessman, powerbroker and dynastic head Wee Bak Chuan wakes up one morning face down on the floor. And -- for the first time in his life -- no one is paying him any attention. It takes him a few hours to figure out that he's dead, but a lot longer to grasp that he's no longer in charge of an extended and feuding household of heirs, successor, servants, political rivals and toadying hangers-on, all gathered for the great man's funeral. There are rumours that this might be a political satire. Yet director Goei's skills in blending Dallas-style soap and Asian comedy of manners could easily be offering the inside gossip on any one of Southeast Asia's elite ruling families.
